What Applybuddy is
ApplyBuddy is a free AI resume review and customization tool. Its purpose is to help job seekers optimize their resumes and improve their chances of success. After you upload an existing resume, the tool provides an instant score, checks the ATS keywords in the document, and makes line by line modifications that point out missing keywords and areas that need more evidence. You can paste a job description or URL, and ApplyBuddy transforms your basic resume into a version that fits the language and key points of that position, then exports a PDF tailored to it within minutes. It also generates a cover letter from the same job background, lets you edit each draft in the dashboard, and saves everything in a resume library. It is free to use without a credit card, with optional paid upgrades. The tool aims to solve the problem of job seekers sending the same resume to every posting.
What you can do with it
- Get an instant resume score and ATS keyword check
- Customize one resume to fit different job descriptions
- Generate a cover letter tailored to the same job background
- Export an ATS friendly PDF that recruiters can scan quickly
Who it is for
- Career changers linking transferable achievements to a new field
- Fresh graduates turning coursework and internships into proof points
- Experienced professionals highlighting leadership and business impact
What to watch out for
The tool rewrites your resume, but the final version is still yours, so review every change to keep the content truthful and in your own voice. Fit quality depends on how complete the job description is, so a short or vague posting will produce weaker suggestions. The service is free to use right now, but free rules and paid upgrade terms may change, and no tool can guarantee interview invitations, so treat the output as a starting draft. Keep a master resume and treat each tailored version as a copy, so you never lose your original content.
